I had such an incredible time presenting with the team at the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE). The space was so full of brilliant leaders from across the country our session earned a “highly attended” badge. It was thrilling to see so many so eager to collaborate and I’m looking forward to all of the amazing work to come.

DNC Black Caucus Eastern Region Leadership Summit
The DNC Black Caucus Eastern Region Leadership Summit was a powerful gathering of Black leaders from across the nation, uniting to strategize, mobilize, and amplify our collective impact for 2024. From policy discussions to voter engagement strategies, the summit reinforced the urgency of turning conversation into action to ensure Black leadership continues to drive meaningful change.

Advancing Teacher Diversity at Columbia University
Earlier in May, I was honored to serve as a panelist at Teachers College, Columbia University during a multi-state convening led by Dr. Travis Bristol and Dr. Conra Gist, where we explored strategies to recruit, support, and retain teachers of color, bridging research, policy, and practice for lasting impact.

Strength in Community: Pennsylvania Teachers Gather for Advocacy & Connection
I facilitated a panel discussion with Senate Appropriations Chair Senator Hughes and Sharif El-Mekki, CEO of the Center for Black Educator Development, as the Pennsylvania Teachers Affinity Group (led by Andrea Terrero Gabbadon, Ph.D.) convened to discuss the power of advocacy, collective action, and staying connected in the fight for equitable education.

Testifying for Change: Addressing Pennsylvania’s Teacher Shortage
At the end of February, I testified before the Senate Education Committee, emphasizing the urgent need for real solutions to the teacher shortage in Pennsylvania—because investing in educators is investing in the future of our students and communities.

Reimagining the Teaching Profession: A Call for a Stronger, More Diverse Workforce
I had the opportunity to present alongside NCEE’s President before the State Board of Education, advocating for bold solutions to attract, support, and retain a stronger, more diverse teaching workforce—because the future of education depends on it.

One Year Later: Demanding Action for Fair School Funding in Pennsylvania
On February 7th, we gathered in the Capitol Rotunda to mark the one-year anniversary of the court ruling against Pennsylvania’s unconstitutional school funding system, urging Governor Shapiro and state lawmakers to take action and ensure every student, in every district, receives the quality education they deserve.

A year after advocating for a stronger, more equitable budget in the wake of the Fair Funding court decision, Pennsylvania’s education funding crisis remains unresolved—the budget is still not finalized, and our students continue to wait for the resources they deserve.
